On the Petržalka bank of the Danube sits a boat that has, over the past few years, become one of Bratislava’s favourite spots to relax.

Sundeck – a mix of restaurant, bar, accommodation, and nightclub – attracts guests with its unique on-the-water atmosphere. Although everything now runs smoothly, it wasn’t always that way.

“We tried three POS systems. We always had problems mainly with mobile waiters. The connection with the main POS didn’t work, the signal kept dropping, payments wouldn’t go through. It was supposed to make our work easier, but often it just made everything more complicated,” recalls the owner, Petra Rizmanová.

Sundeck has a capacity of around 120 seats, so when the boat fills up, everything moves at full speed. And when the system doesn’t work, chaos quickly follows.

“I was desperate,” she admits. “The old systems slowed us down, so we were looking for a reliable solution.”

The turning point came when they were introduced to Storyous.

“I went to see it at another restaurant, and right away it looked great to me. Since then, I have to say, we haven’t had any problems.”

According to her, the system brought calm and clarity to their daily operations. “It’s intuitive and, most importantly, it works. It communicates, it doesn’t freeze. And if something does happen, the support line reacts immediately – that’s a huge advantage for me.”

At Sundeck, they use Storyous to the fullest.

From ordering and sending tickets to the kitchen to attendance tracking and inventory management.

“We used to do everything in Excel. Now we have electronic delivery notes, reverse stock entries, and sales statistics. We know which dishes sell well and which aren’t worth keeping on the menu.”

The system has also helped reduce staffing costs. “You only need one or two waiters on the floor and a runner who just delivers orders. Guests can pay right away, and the waiter is closer to them. It works simply and quickly.”

“But the biggest advantage is freedom. Today I can manage everything remotely. I don’t have to be physically at the venue to make changes. And most importantly, the system runs reliably. Since we’ve had it, I have more free time,” she smiles.

Sundeck is now not just a place where people come to enjoy themselves by the Danube, but also an example of how technology can help hospitality businesses operate efficiently and without stress.

“I’ve been through three systems, but only with Storyous does everything finally work the way it should. Wherever I go, I recommend it.”
